ESCP Business School
This closed-door roundtable brings together senior policymakers, political advisers, think tank experts, and select private sector leaders for an informal exchange on the evolving intersection of economic security and foreign direct investment. Taking place in the wake of recent strategic policy shifts, the session aims to foster dialogue on the geopolitical and regulatory transformations reshaping global investment frameworks.
The conversation will explore how major economies are rethinking the role of the state in markets. The United States is increasingly embracing a form of strategic capitalism, moving away from traditional laissez-faire principles in favour of more targeted industrial and investment policies. Meanwhile, the European Union is pursuing a vision of strategic autonomy and economic security that reinforces the single market, modernises competition rules, and promotes deeper cooperation among Member States and with trusted international partners.
Participants will reflect on how these shifts affect FDI screening regimes and the future of global economic integration. The format is designed to encourage open and informal discussion, with insights shared under the Chatham House Rule.
